Review – Thule RoundTrip Bike Duffel Bag

I am a sucker for bags, and a fanatic kit organiser. These two personality traits have led me on an ongoing search for the best bag for every pursuit, whether it is trans-continental bike tours, overseas travel, or a daily cycle commute. No one bag ticks all the boxes for every kind of trip, but having a multitude of bags does allow you to be super-organised and prepared for any kind of adventure…

The Thule RoundTrip Bike Duffel Bag is designed to carry all your kit when you are heading to a bike race, training camp, or on a multi-day trip with your bike. Featuring dedicated storage pockets for your helmet, shoes, sunglasses, tools, and clothes; it has a place for everything, so everything can be kept in its place and easy to access.

Thule bags have become my go-to luggage choice, they are faultlessly made and last for years. So, when I was looking for a bag to transport riding kit and accessories, they were the logical brand to turn to. The RoundTrip Bike Duffel is the perfect companion to the Thule RoundTrip Pro XT Bike Bag and Thule Commuter Rucksack, both previously reviewed here on the blog.

Made from robust abrasion resistant fabric, the RoundTrip Bike Duffel is built to withstand the rigours of travel. It features an adjustable shoulder strap for comfortable cross-shoulder carrying and has a reinforced base for stability.

Inside the bag the organisation magic begins… there is a compartment for your helmet, and then an extensive divider system to stow rolled up clothing in, as well as a padded compartment for electronics and sunglasses. In addition, there is a water-resistant tarpaulin pocket in the roof of the bag lid—for sweaty and damp used kit, as well as a separate pocket on the outside for mucky shoes.

Further to the above pockets, there is also a dedicated tool pocket on the outside of the bag; with reinforced internal dividers to safely house sharp or greasy tools away from other kit.

Size wise, the RoundTrip Duffel has a 55 litre capacity and measures 67 x 36 x 20 cm, which means it is easily large enough to take enough clothes for a few days away, although it is slightly larger than is allowed on most airplane cabin bag allowances.

The Thule RoundTrip Bike Duffel is superbly designed and built to the highest quality level. With a place for everything, everything is kept in its place—allowing you to concentrate on enjoying your ride and performing at your best. Another fantastic bag from Thule.
