Review – WORX WG620E.2 Cordless Hydroshot Portable Pressure Cleaner
Should you pressure wash your bike? The safest answer is "no", BUT if you are careful and target the powerful jet of a pressure washer only at the right places, then it can be an excellent time and water efficient way of washing your bike.
A pressure washer can safely be used to wash the frame, wheels, chainrings and saddle of a bike; the areas to avoid are directing the pressure washer stream into the hubs, bottom bracket, jockey wheels or pedal bearings. Provided you steer clear of the above named areas, targeting those instead with a soft brush for the hubs and some degreaser and a chain bath for the drivetrain, then a pressure washer can allow you to quickly remove dirt and debris from the rest of the bike.
The WORX WG620E.2 is a portable cordless power washer/cleaner that offers a fast and versatile way to clean your bike. Compared to other pressure washers on the market, it is lighter (1.75kg), easier to use (singlehanded), and has the excellent virtue that you can use it with any water source – thanks to the long six metre hose with inbuilt filter.
The functionality of the WORX WG620E.2 is simple: you fit either the spray lance, brush or foam bottle onto the outlet nozzle, then connect the hose to the unit and run it into a water source – be that a bucket, water carrier, 2L drinking bottle, lake, water butt, or connected to a mains water tap. The WG620E will then pump out water at ten times the pressure of your garden hose, blasting away dirt.
The WG20E.2 is completely cordless, utilising a battery like that found on an electric drill or other power tools. You can also buy the batteries separately, or purchase the WG20E.4 that comes with a spare battery pack. Charging is simple, using the supplied 2A charging station.
For me, the WORX WG20E.2 has proven to be a superb companion for adventures in the wet and muddy conditions we have encountered in the UK over the last few months. The variety of spray options, brush lance and cleaner application bottle all work well; speeding up your bike cleaning routine and allowing me to keep my bike running smoothly.
