Bar end plugs are likely something you haven't considered at length before; a set of two plastic plugs usually comes in a pack of new bar tape, and generally they do the job... until they fall out and bounce into the verge. The Muc-Off Disco Alloy Bar End Plugs add plastic-free bling to your bike — in a bar end plug that should last a lifetime.

£20 (RRP) is a lot of cash for a pair of bar end plugs, considering most bar tape is around that price; view the Muc-Off Disco plugs as an investment though — matching the colour scheme of your bike and ensuring you don't leave plastic plugs strewn all over the trails.

Unlike a simple push-in bar end plug, these alloy bar end plugs use a rubber washer that is squeezed by an integrated bolt (tighten using a 4mm hex key) to expand into the internal diameter of your handlebar — holding the plug securely in place.

With different sized rubber washers for different diameter handlebars tubes, these will fit any road, MTB or gravel bike. They are available in a range of vibrant colours.

This traditional flapjack recipe is packed full of energy for long days on the bike. The oats supply a great low-GI fuel source, while the dried fruit offers instant energy and sweetness. Review – TRP Spyre SLC Cable Disc Brakes

Cable actuated disc brakes get a lot of bad press. There is some justification for that — most of the systems lack the modulation and performance of their hydraulic counterparts. There is however one set of cable disc brakes that shines above the rest: the TRP Spyre SLC Disc Brake. This lightweight and sleek cable disc caliper excels in both design and functionality. My Kona Private Jake arrived in 2016 with a set of TRP's Spyre-C disc brakes fitted as standard. I ride a gravel bike on the Isle of Wight more than I ride any other; it is the perfect way to explore the vast network of quiet roads and exciting open trails. In this post, I have tailor-made a selection of the best gravel cycling routes on the Isle of Wight, with suggested pit-stops and highlights. The Isle of Wight roads, trails, and tracks are my home.
