Review – Vinco Performance Sola Cycling Sunglasses

Vinco Performance Sola Cycling Sunglasses
Cycling sunglasses are unfortunately considered by many to be ‘disposable items’ – in that a pair will last a couple of years before they get broken, damaged, and likely discarded. The Italian brand Vinco is reinventing sports eyewear through minimalist design and renewable material innovation; producing cycling sunglasses that are sustainable to make, and should last a lifetime…

Sustainable Materials

Vinco frames are manufactured from Lignatura™ – a proprietary renewable material that replaces fossil-fuel-based plastics used in most cycling sunglasses. Lignatura™ is a carbon-neutral ultra-resilient bio-resin, derived from a by-product of paper production.

Lignatura™ consists of 98% bio-based content from Fir and Beech wood fibres; the raw materials are PEFC-certified from forests in Finland, using controlled reforestation practices. Flax, Jute and Sisal fibres are combined with the wood fibres to achieve strong and durable frames.

In addition, all the packaging used for Vinco glasses is reusable or 100 percent recyclable.

Durability and Lifetime Guarantee

The Vinco Sola Sunglasses are impressively durable, featuring Polyamide lenses and stainless steel lens attachment hardware. Best-in-class stainless spring-cam template hinges should also last a lifetime.

If an element of the Vinco frames does fail, then the units can be entirely re-built; you simply package them up and send them back to Italy, to be recycled and replaced. All models have a two year guarantee. Durability and the ability to rebuild and recycle rather than replace, helps to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Enhanced Vision and Minimalist Feel

The Vinco Sola is an ‘ultra-panoramic lens’ that protects your eyes from glare, wind, bugs and debris. The lenses genuinely seem to enhance colours, while reducing eyestrain in super bright conditions.

The ultralightweight design of the Vinco Sola means it is barely noticeable when in use. The two sizes of lenses and adjustable temple tips mean you can tailor the fit to provide personalised comfort and a secure hold. Vented brow bridges improves airflow through the glasses, reducing sweat and fog build up, and allowing you to focus on performance.

Sustainable, comfortable, and top performing. The Vinco Sola sunglasses are some of the best cycling sunglasses I have used to date, offering hours of comfort in a variety of light conditions.
