Season Highlights - Top Casual Cycling Clothing

Lycra is not always appropriate. Lycra around the house... not advisable. Lycra in the office... just no. Lycra on a night out... hell no.

Instead, look for some quality cycling inspired casual kit. It will be more comfortable, and more acceptable when you are not sprinting for signs or tearing up trails.

These are some of my latest favourites, from this winter's collections...



Swrve Skinny Cycling Jeans

I am a great fan of the casual clothing range from American brand Swrve. I wear a pair of their Indigo Cycling Jeans or WWR Trousers almost every day. The new Skinny Fit Cycling Jeans are the latest addition to my wardrobe, and a great one at that.

They have a flattering slender fit, reflective trims, and also cleverly incorporate just a little Lycra into the material mix, to give them a bit of stretch if you are riding around town.

The black Cordura denim provides a look that is smart enough for most offices, but a fabric durable enough to stand up to years of use and abuse. Swrve have tested their Cordura denim fabric, and found it to be up to 10 times more durable than traditional cotton denims.

These look better, and last longer than the vast majority of jeans in the market today.

La Machine 'Muur' Jumper

'Muur' refers to the famous Muur van Geraardsbergen - a fantastic Spring Classics climb, rather than to the Christmas related gold, frankincense and myrrh. But, this product seems appropriate for Christmas too, given its beautiful maroon colour.

La Machine Long Sleeve 'Tete de la Course' Tee

I love a long sleeve tee, and this is my favourite of the 2017 season. Soft 100% cotton, subtly branded, and stylishly grey. It ticks all the boxes for a winter warmer piece of apparel.

The market for disc brake pads for gravel bikes, mountain bikes and road bikes is saturated; there are hundreds of different brands producing disc brake pads claiming to last longer and perform better than the competition. XPDTN3 Algarviana – Exploring Portugal's Secret Gravel

Just before the world went into Lockdown in March 2020, I squeezed in a last minute trip to Portugal's Algarve—to explore some of the amazing and unique gravel riding on offer there...
