Review – Super Sparrow 1 Litre Reusable Water Bottles

Super Sparrow Water Bottles Review
I have been on the lookout for cycling water bottles with extra volume—to use on long distance bikepacking and adventure trips. The brand Super Sparrow came to my attention on Amazon and looked worthwhile testing out. This is a brief review…

The Super Sparrow brand may be unknown to many, but they have a cult following on Amazon; with many of their products reaching over 8000 positive reviews. I felt this was enough of an endorsement to see if they would be up to the rigours of bikepacking and bike touring adventures.

I have been testing three models from the range:

Of the above three models, the Sports Water Bottle and Standard Mouth Insulated Bottle will both fit into a standard bicycle bottle cage; making them easily transportable without the need for a 'carry-anything' type cage. The Sports Bottle and the Standard Mouth Bottle also come with sports-type lids that allow you to sip from the bottle without needing to unscrew the cap.

The quality of these water bottles is impressive, especially considering their inexpensive price tags. They are leak-proof, drop-resistant, BPA-free, and easy to clean. The Sports Bottle and Standard Mouth versions also have useful carry straps; whilst all three water bottles have a loop on the top to allow you to lash them to a bag or onto the top of a pannier rack.

The push button hygienic flip top on the Sports Bottle is a real winning feature for bikepackers—preventing trail muck contaminating the mouthpiece. Equally, the thermal insulation on the two stainless steel vacuum bottles does an excellent job of keeping drinks cool on those hot days in the saddle. My only slight disappointment with the insulated bottles was their ability to keep drinks hot; it seemed that 3-4 hours was the most you could ask for, rather than the stated 12 hours on the product page.

Overall, the Super Sparrow bottles are well-made large capacity water bottles, which are definitely up to the challenge of outdoor adventures. In a now crowded marketplace of reusable water bottles, these are a superb example of a well-executed product.
