Adventures

From coastal rides around the Isle of Wight to 3000 kilometre trans-European bike tours... below you will find stories of the diverse range of beautiful and interesting cycling adventures I have completed to date...

  • #5MaratonasChallenge — A challenge to ride the five historic routes of the Maratona dles Dolomites over five consecutive days. 873 kilometres. 28,300 metres elevation.
  • #7Countries7Passes — A touring adventure from Denmark to Andorra; via the high mountain passes of the Alps, Dolomites, and Pyrenees. 3200 kilometres. 42,000 metres elevation.
  • #BlackForest400 — A non-stop and self-supported solo bikepacking adventure from Northern France to Germany's Black Forest. 400 miles (684 kilometres). 8172 metres elevation.
  • #CelticCrossTrail — From Inverness to the Isle of Wight;  the Scottish Highlands, Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, and the mountains of Wales. 1875 kilometres. 22,000 metres elevation.
  • #CoastsandCols — My first solo bikepacking tour. From Santander, across Northern Spain, the Pyrenees, and then up the West Coast of France. 1933 kilometres. 28,629 metres elevation.
  • #RoadsFromRome — From Tuscany to the Dolomites and Alps; then to the Black Forest, Netherlands, and the UK. The road home from Rome. 2408 kilometres. 35,043 metres elevation.
  • #Festive500 — 500 miles between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The Festive 500 is a magical and often challenging series of festive bike rides held on an annual basis.
  • #FrozenFjords — Three days of adventure into the frozen wilderness of Norwegian winter, on bikepacking rigs with spiked ice tyres. The coldest conditions I have ever ridden in.
  • HERO Dolomites Südtirol — Branded the toughest mountain bike race in the world—this was an experience like no other race I have ridden. 4500 metres elevation in just 87 kilometres.
  • The Long Road North – A January adventure ride from the South Coast of the UK to 'The North'. 277 kilometres on a fully loaded touring bike.
  • St. Boniface Down Mavic Everesting — Climbing the height of Everest in one ride, on one climb. This mammoth hill repeat session was a brutally hard day in the saddle, but for a worthy cause.
  • TorTour Cyclocross Summer — Three days. Three stages. Three chances to explore and race along the gravel roads in the beautiful Lucerne region of Switzerland. A lung bursting challenge.
  • TorTour Cyclocross Winter Stage Race — Three days racing in the snowy Swiss mountains. This proved to be the ultimate early season test for body and kit, topped off by a top placed finish.
  • XPDTN3 Algarviana — From the Spanish border to the most south western tip of Europe; this gravel bikepacking adventure provides three days of incredible riding across Portugal.
  • XPDTN3 Dolomites — Bikepacking through the highest peaks in the Italian Dolomites. Visiting remote alpine huts, clawing up wall-like gradients, and consuming plenty of gelato.
