Review Smith Optics Ruckus Cycling Sunglasses
As the darkness creeps in, a pair of cycling glasses with photochromic or light enhancing lenses is a real must; providing valuable protection from grit and spray, but not darkening or impairing your vision. The Smith Optics Ruckus glasses are an exceptional quality option from the Italian brand, featuring both lens options — for all riding conditions.

Cycling glasses do a lot more than just shield your eyes from the sun's glare — they also protect your eyes from wind, dirt, insects, and road/trail debris; making them an invaluable year-round accessory. For mountain biking in shaded forests, and when road cycling in low light conditions, you want either photochromic reactive lenses or amber tinted light-enhancing lenses.

The Smith Optics Ruckus Sunglasses are pitched as mountain biking sunglasses, but I have also found them to be a fantastic choice for road and gravel riding in all light conditions. They come with a photochromic reactive ChromoPop lens, and a high clarity amber tinted lens — both delivering impressive protection and visibility.

The frame of the Ruckus glasses has been designed to be minimal, but robust. The arms are stiff and strong, and provide a reassuring hold on your head; while the rubber nose piece is comfortable and secure. The arms connect to the lens using Smith's PivLock system — which allows you to attach them to the lens piece with ease.

The large wrap around lens on the Ruckus glasses, combined with the minimalist frame, means that clarity of vision and the degree of protective coverage are very impressive. You can be head-down sprinting, or have dirt and spray flying off your front wheel, and the Ruckus glasses allow you to keep your eyes firmly on the road or trail.

Superb clarity of vision, impressive protection, and great comfort — the Smith Optics Ruckus glasses tick all the boxes for a pair of cycling sunglasses for all weather and riding conditions. They have become my chosen option for this winter's riding; whether that be sun or snow!
